The headline may be a slight exaggeration, but there was an enthusiastic crowd on August 28 in the VTEA arena to see Jay O Jay, the celebrated horseman, demonstrate how well you can establish a connection with even very young horses. He worked with a three year-old mare, Grace, and his yearlings, Casper and Junior. Melanie Williams assisted in the demonstration.
The Valley Therapeutic Equestrian Association received a major boost from the Royal Bank of Canada Foundation, with the awarding of a $5,000 grant on June 1. A photograph showed RBCF representatives Courtnee Parker, Janet Wallick and Kathy Haydu, VTEA president Adam Kendall and VTEA client Alex Tipper.
"My sister told me a story a while back about a friend's daughter, who has a disability, and who improved greatly in her mobility because of therapeutic horses," Falk said. Since she's used her bear-themed shows to help the Critter Care organization a few years back, it "seemed the right time" to share her new show featuring drawings and paintings of horses with VTEA.
VTEA and the other major charities that have benefited by the efforts of the Langley Good Times Cruise-In will all be looking forward to its early return.
